Each day our thoughts present us with an opportunity to be anxious.
Problem:
Often we feel anxiety and worry about a particular part of ourselves and/or our sport or business. Often we feel powerless to control this anxiety. In this article, we learn how to not only take back the power, but also to use the anxiety to our own advantage. From here we can start to make a huge difference to our day to day lives and to use anxiety to our advantage.
The key here is what goes on in the mind, and is a challenge many of the sports professionals and business executives I work with have come up against.
Education:
The answer to almost every mental challenge faced by us all is hidden in the subconscious mind. This is the part of the mind that is very powerful, and is far less easy to communicate directly with than the conscious mind. With training, this becomes easier.
My Tip:
I advise you to be aware that anxiety is a poke from the unconscious mind that it is time to focus on what you DO want.
When we take a look at what is happening when we are anxious, we find that we are focusing on what we DON'T want with our thoughts.
So if an athlete is anxious about his performance - guess what their subconscious mind is going to offer up? - Yep you've guessed it - examples of poor performance!
Learning
Here's the learning folks - USE ANXIETY AS A TOOL. Becoming anxious tells you categorically to change your focus to the positive.
If you have a competition or important event coming up and you feel uneasy, gently refocus on a positive outcome. Do this each and every single time an anxious thought comes up for you. It will take repetition. Every new movement does. This will be you training your "memory muscle".
It's the same in life and work as in sport. Daily I check in with my own thoughts. Often the first sign I have that my thoughts are not optimum is when I realize I feel uncomfortable or uneasy. As soon as I realize that's happening I know I have allowed my mind to wander to thoughts that bring me no success.
Enjoy thinking yourself into being positive, after all you train your body each day and you are an amazing individual - why not use mental training as a tool to give you your edge to win?
Train yourself to be your best! Izzy

The Law of Attraction and the Six Principles for Success
By Manuel Karkafiris
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6497369
Our emotions play a pivotal role in not only in the way we feel, but they are a good indication of the results that we can expect in our life. This means that when we consistently follow principle emotions in our life, we increase the probability of success.
The following summary of the six principles for success indicate how we can attract more good in our life, which ultimately leads to better health, more prosperity and outstanding relationships.
1. LOVE: it is important that you love and accept yourself. If you do not accept yourself with love, then how are you going to love someone else? When you start to appreciate yourself, you in turn start to appreciate others.
No comparisons to others, either! This is a fruitless exercise, for you are unique. Has there ever been anyone else like you, will there ever be anyone else like you? That consideration alone, you need to love.
2. GRATITUDE: Gratitude is a powerful energy, so by you expressing a grateful attitude towards what you have in your life, you are locking into the attraction of abundance in your life. Gratitude can be likened to gravity: you throw it up; it comes back down to you. You get more of what you are grateful about. You need to express it.
3. FORGIVENESS: The first step in this process is to FORGIVE YOURSELF FIRST. The act of unforgiveness can be likened to you carrying around a heavy sack of rocks on your back. It basically means that you are carrying around more baggage than is healthy. The key to fulfillment in life is to release the baggage and walk free!
An effective way of achieving forgiveness is by the act of writing a letter to those you wish to release from your mind and body. (Please note that you DO NOT have to send the letter- it is the intention of experiencing the emotional release.) The idea is to do this quickly, unconsciously, without forethought. You are training your mind to let the unresolved resentment go.
The aim is to bring out the negative associations beginning with anger, sadness, fear and hurt until you can climb the ladder of emotion to love.
Begin the letter with "I am angry that..." and let your letter flow where it may, making sure that you cover all the relevant points. The ultimate aim is to allow yourself the gift of liberation so that you may live your life in peace.
Should the act of forgiveness of others prove difficult to you, it would pay to keep in mind a crucial consideration. Just because that person was in a bad state before, it does not mean he/she will always be in such a state. This alone will assist in your act of forgiveness. There is no such thing as an unresourceful person, only unresourceful thoughts. It was that person's thoughts at that time that made him/her to act in the way that has lead to your needing to forgive them.
4. CONTRIBUTION/GIVING. As in the case in forgiveness, it is essential for you to contribute to yourself first. You can do this by rewarding yourself whenever you have achieved something worthwhile.
When it comes to contributing to others, you will discover that in the act of giving, you have a variety of gifts at your disposal. You can contribute your time, love and knowledge, in fact anything that serves to enrich the lives of others.
The process by which the Universe works is known as the law of reciprocation. If you give to someone, that person will want to give something back to you and so the continuum proceeds.
The key point to remember about the act of contribution is:
IF YOU WANT SOMETHING, YOU NEED TO CONTRIBUTE IT FIRST.
If, for example, you want more love in your life, you need to give love first. The same principle applies to money. Contribution is energy, it has a rebounding effect.
5. ACCESSING PEACE: When you are at peace with yourself, you are actually at your highest connectedness to the Universe and in the state of highest creativity. It is therefore essential to engage in activities that engender peace. Meditation. Fasting. Being close to nature. Detoxifying/cleansing your body. Prayer.
Meditation is vital for accessing peace.Sit silently, ponder and mentally ask questions and the answers that are already there will come to you. You just need to take that first step.
6. FAITH: Faith overcomes fear. Faith and fear are mutually exclusive. Like oil and water, they simply don't mix.
The fact is, that you practice faith on a daily basis. You have faith that your car and your driving skills will get you from A to B, or that the bus driver will deliver you safely to your destination. The key is to actively practice faith in your life. Remember: you will see it when you believe it!
Begin to visualise your life's goal and emotionalise it. Have faith in its manifestation and take the necessary action to bring it into your life.

Three Things Most People Do Wrong When Trying to Release Emotions
By Dr Lisa Turner
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6432664
Emotions are good. They let us know when something isn't right for us. At least that's what they are meant for.
However all too often the emotion you feel now in the present is actually based in a memory from the past. When this happens it means you can't make the best decisions for yourself. You will find it hard to be 100% present and in the now, because the past is always pulling you back.
Sadly exactly how to recover from the past isn't well known and here are the 3 biggest mistakes that people make when trying to deal with their emotions.
1. Understand them
Do you know someone who knows exactly WHY they have their problems? They know the cause, the events that led to them, how it all happened. They will know and fully understand all the patterns and triggers, and often they will find every opportunity to share them with anyone who seems even remotely interested, they will launch into their "story". The problem is they still have the problem. Knowing why you have the problem and understanding it is a bit like knowing your car doesn't work because its fan belt has broken, but not actually replacing the fan belt.
2. Express them
Many therapies focus on crying, talking about your problem or even shouting and screaming.
Crying does not release the emotions, nor does it resolve the problem. Although crying can give temporary relief and release endorphins, this simply masks the problem and, in fact, reliving the painful event reinforces the problem and makes it worse, rather than better.
Rather than releasing the emotions this actually reinforces them in your neurology. Every time you think a thought, feel an emotion or recall a memory, the neurons fire in your brain along the same original path. Each time you do this you will actually be strengthening that path, making it easier for that pathway to be fired up next time. This is why small events in the present can trigger past trauma. Expressing emotions does not release them.
Therefore each time you relive a traumatic event, you will strengthen the neural pathway. But if you RELEASE the negative emotions new, positive and empowering thought processes can then be installed.
3. Suppress them
This is also called denial and we do this in a variety of ways. Most people will simply kid themselves or deny that they have any problems at all. Often emotions are suppressed or anaesthetised out of consciousness with addictions. Smoking, drinking, video games, TV, eating too much or a compulsion to eat a particular thing, even caffeine will anaesthetise your pain.
However, the pain and the problems are still there. The neurons are still firing, but out of your conscious awareness. So you are radiating out all that energy completely ignorantly until boom some big problem lands in your life and you can't understand where it came from or why it happened when you were thinking happy thoughts.
Telltale signs that you have suppressed emotions
A) Overreactions
You overreact to small things - this is known as emotional leakage. The emotions, denied in one area of your life, literally spill out in other areas. So if you are irritable, overly sentimental, get hurt by small things, even road rage, are signs that you could be suppressing emotions in another area.
B) Low or no Energy
Feeling tired - it takes energy to carry emotions (that's why it's called emotional baggage) and it takes even more energy to suppress them. If you are lacking in energy, need more sleep than most people or just have no get up and go. Many of my past clients were suffering from chronic fatigue or ME, which disappeared once they released their emotions.
C) You have physical pain or even illness
I've received a lot of questions about illness, heart problems, chronic fatigue, auto-immune, chronic pain and so on.
Pain, illness or physical discomfort is one of the ways our unconscious minds communicate with us. Your unconscious mind is communicating with your conscious mind all the time, but in the highly logical, rational, left brain society we have been conditioned to ignore those silly irrational feelings and only to pay attention to rational thinking.
But no matter how irrational they might seem they do have a rational cause. It's just that our conscious / logical mind doesn't have all the information. So it assumes the unconscious mind is wrong and overrules it.
This is what happens with our emotions and illness. Our unconscious mind will tell our conscious mind that something needs to change or move or it will just give us some feedback. But our conscious mind ignores it, so our unconscious mind gives it louder and louder and we turn it off and become numb to our emotions.
The problem is still there so our unconscious mind tries another way of communicating. The unconscious mind runs the body and it governs all those automatic processed like our immune system and muscles etc.
So if we ignore our emotions our unconscious mind gives us the messages as pain or illness. But when we pay attention to the emotions and release them the physical problem can disappear.
This is particularly true of all those psychosomatic illnesses. That doesn't mean they are not real. The pain and the problem is VERY real, but it is caused because we don't have a mechanism to release our emotions so we suppress them.
However all too often the emotion you feel now in the present is actually based in a memory from the past. When this happens it means you can't make the best decisions for yourself. You will find it hard to be 100% present and in the now, because the past is always pulling you back.

Five Tips To Reaching Your Goals
By Jonel Fernando
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6372210
Do you have a dream that you want to reach? Do you want to be something or someone in the future? Is there something you want to have? Everyone has a dream. When you want to get something, that is a wish. When you wish for something, that is a dream. When you want to make your wishes and dreams come true then that is a goal. In this article, I'm giving five important tips to keep in mind in order to reach your goals.
The Backstory
My daughter once borrowed his uncle's camera phone to take a good picture of her cat. I guess to take a good picture of the cat's face, she grabbed the cat and tried to snap a picture of its face. Obviously, doing so made the cat uncomfortable and the cat kept struggling so my daughter can't take the picture she wanted. Then, giving up on the idea of grabbing the cat, she started following the cat. The cat, obviously scared and upset about all the grabbing, tried to get away from her whenever she went closer to take a picture. My daughter, determined to get that "perfect" picture, followed the cat relentlessly until it seemed to have gotten tired of running away and just stopped to rest. Then, my daughter got her picture and it was the most beautiful picture of a cat that her mother has ever seen. Don't ask me where the picture is though, because I don't have it. It's in his uncle's memory card buried somewhere, assuming that it wasn't deleted. I'll ask them to find it though and I'll post it here once I find it.
1. Setting Goals
Have you ever heard of the S.M.A.R.T. goals? it stands for: Specific-Measurable-Attainable-Realistic-Timely/Tangible. Accept that sometimes, it is better to just relax and wait until your head is clear. Any adult would know that a cat would struggle like that but my daughter, being 5 years old that time, either vaguely had an idea or didn't consider how the cat would react. I'm not saying that my daughter should wait until she grows up to take the cat's picture. What I'm trying to say is that one should also consider the effects of an action. Life is about cause and effect. Nothing is truly ever random. Things happen because something made it happen. In order to reach our goals, we must understand the factors that are in the way of reaching that goal.
2. Patience
The picture aside, I think the moral lesson to be learned from my daughter's story is that there are things that can only be achieved with patience. Just like when she tried to grab the cat, it struggled and fought back, and my daughter never got her picture. Sometimes we forget the fact that there are things that can't be forced to happen. We try so hard and exert so much effort in order to get things done as fast as we can but the harder you try, the more you make it harder for yourself. Instead of trying to rush and force things to happen, maybe it's best to just let go and make things take their natural course. Just like when my daughter learned that forcing the cat to face the shutter caused it to struggle more, sometimes we just have to learn that rushing things and forcing things to happen can make matters worse.
3. Perseverance
So the cat got scared and tried to get away, making it harder for my daughter to take the picture she wanted. My daughter could have just given up, but she didn't. She kept following the cat to the point of what one can call "stalking" until she got her shot. It's called "perseverance", or sometimes "persistence". There are many things in life that can be achieved only if we know how to persevere. With all the technology making things faster and easier, we have seemed to forget the value of hard work. There's always an easy way, and there's always the long and hard way. I'm not against the easy way and I admit to being lazy, but there are things that we know we can achieve if we only keep working hard for it. Achieving small and easy things can be a lot easier most of the time so we tend to settle for less when we could have just given a little more time and effort to get something really great. Persevere. Life isn't always easy, but persistence and hard work always has its rewards.
4. Equivalent Exchange
In order to gain something, one must give up something of the same value. I admit to pulling this out of Fullmetal Alchemist, an anime show that I really loved. But just because it was from a cartoon does not make it wrong or childish. My daughter wanted her perfect cat picture. So, she gave a lot of patience and effort in order to get it and she did get it. The value of something is sometimes associated with the time and effort put into it. Sure you could have easily done it yourself when you saw the mechanic simply turn a bolt, but it's the knowledge of which bolt to turn that makes him special and charge what he charges you. Everyone could turn a bolt, but identifying the cause of the problem and knowing which bolt to turn took the mechanic some time and effort to learn. That is what you are paying for. Going back, in order for you to reach a great goal or dream, you must endure and keep working. Patience and Perseverance remember?
5. Stay Focused
My daughter wanted her picture. She ignored her playmates and her mother for more than an hour just stalking the cat until she got her picture. If she stopped following the cat, she might have lost it. If she let herself be drawn in by her playmates, then she would have forgotten about taking the picture. If you have a dream or goal you have to reach, you must focus on it and do not let yourself be distracted with other things. Allowing yourself to be distracted can cause you a delay in reaching your goals or worse, make you forget about your goals. Even if you have patience and you work hard, it would all feel like it was for nothing if you lose sight of your goal. In reverse, if you know your goal, you can keep working hard and you can be patient because you know that everything is leading you closer to your goal.

So, You Want to Be a Millionaire, Do You?
By Steve Youngman
The desire for people to achieve millionaire status is universal. There are no lack of programs, courses, membership programs and mentors purporting to show you how to make millions.
Yet, with all this valuable knowledge and education out there, most people are still not achieving the wealth they desire. So, what is the problem?
Is it the program or is it the individual "using" the program?
In this context, the term "using" is probably the wrong word. For some reason, around 90% of people that invest in business or personal development programs NEVER get past the first chapter. They never actually "use" the program to start with.
This figure is very disturbing and explains why most people fail to achieve their goals. The failure to follow through and take action is the number one reason most people fail to become millionaires.
Their failure has nothing to do with the programs they invest in. Yes, while some programs are garbage and don't deliver on what they promise, the majority of business programs do work, and if implemented as taught, can make the students millions of dollars.
The programs are not the problem, rather it's the individual that is the problem.
This is the opposite view taken by most people, especially the get rich quick junkie, who bounces from one program to the next, always looking for that magic bullet. Until you realize you are the problem, you will never become a millionaire.
People seem to like buying programs, but they are not too keen on using them. They invest money in the programs but then they don't invest the time and effort to make them work.
One reason for this lack of action is due to the fact that becoming a millionaire, or getting rich, is not a priority for them in their life.
The desire to become a millionaire must be the number ONE priority in your life. It must be more important than anything else you do. This means you must spend the most amount of time, energy and effort into it.
Once you are a millionaire, you can then change your priorities. Most people fail because "becoming a millionaire" is not their number one priority. In most cases, it's not even a priority to begin with. Other distractions take up their time.
This can easily be proven by looking at their habits. These 3 questions will illustrate this point.
How many hours a day do they spend working towards becoming a millionaire?
How many hours of TV a day do they watch?
Is this second number larger than the first?
For most people, the answers to the above questions are 0, 4 and yes.
They spend no time working on their financial goals, yet can somehow squeeze in a few hours of TV everyday. It is clear from their habits and actions that watching TV is a bigger priority in their life than getting rich.
Clearly, in that case, you are not going to become a millionaire if you spend no time on that goal.
You must change your priorities to change your results.
Once something is a priority, you then allocate time to it. This time is when you take action on implementing all that knowledge found in the business programs.
If you say you want to be a millionaire, but you are not acting in a way to make yourself a millionaire, you are lying to yourself.
Your actions should speak louder than your words. So, do you still want to be a millionaire?
Yes, then make it a priority
