By Trevor Johnson
Sometimes we're our own worst enemies and we come up with all sorts of devious ways of self sabotaging that even Wile E Coyote would envy. So if you're forever indulging in self sabotage, what can you do to get out of the habit?
Stop procrastinating
Or at least reduce it.
Procrastination is probably the biggest form of self sabotage that we can indulge in.
After all, if you don't start something then it's darn near impossible to complete it.
If you catch yourself procrastinating, recognize it for the act of self sabotaging that it is and devise your own system to stop yourself putting things off. Personally, I find one of the easiest ways is to start doing whatever it is I'd try to put off, before I give myself the chance to procrastinate on it.
Stop putting yourself down
This is another nasty way to self sabotage yourself.
If you're forever putting yourself down and belittling yourself, your subconscious will begin to believe what you're telling other people and will start to modify the way you act to bring your real life into line with you idea of yourself.
Next time you catch yourself putting yourself down, put a stop to it. Mid sentence if need be. Shrug off whatever you've started to say or turn the comment round so that it's positive.
The same goes for anyone who puts you down on a regular basis. Work on ways to reduce your contact with them or, if that's not possible, tell them straight that they're undermining you (or get a friend to act as a mediator on your behalf)/.
Interrupt the patterns you run
There's a good chance that at least some of your self sabotaging follows a pattern.
Take some time out to analyze what the triggers are that cause you to sabotage yourself - there are probably a handful that are the regular offenders - and then devise a plan to interrupt them as they take shape.
This could be as simple as telling yourself to snap out of it. Or distracting yourself or changing "direction" slightly.
Feel free to experiment until you find a couple of ways that work best for you. Then implement them as often as possible when you find yourself trying to sabotage whatever it is you're doing.
Stop beating yourself up
This is often a big problem for people.
They start off by sabotaging themselves and then they chastise themselves after the event for following through with the sabotage.
The past is in the past. Get over it. Whatever you did can't be changed so don't run through a post-mortem every time you do something that has the effect of sabotaging yourself.
Go a bit easier on yourself and spend the time that you would have spent going ape at yourself more constructively.

Life - An Evolutionary Process
By Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6536762
Life is meant to be an evolutionary growth process, which means then that no matter how good your life has become, no matter how available you are in the Laws of Life - you are on a continuous evolutionary process. If you are on a stationary plain, you might notice you feel stagnated or that life is passing you by. You are right. Life was meant to be continuously in an evolutionary pace. However, this is not to say that you need to be creating something earth-shattering every day. To the contrary, it simply means that you need to have a vision for the next phase.
Many people say they want success, but any time one agrees that conditions are difficult, and also talks about how life is unfair, or holds negative thoughts they are out of harmony with the Universal flow of life. Talking about unfairness or holding negative thoughts locks the energy flow is at a lower level of existence and out of harmony with the thing one says one wants. Thus, you are creating resistance against with what you say you want.
Of course, the question is how does one open up? By being in agreement with all that is prosperous and using every means at your command to make it easy for prosperity, abundance and the free flow of life to come into existence. Stop negative beliefs - i.e. how life is unfair Believe that prosperity and abundance is available for everyone.
On this journey called life, difficult issues come about - fair or unfair as it may seem. It is paramount to remember that there is an answer greater than the problem you are experiencing. All problems seem daunting or overwhelming when you have the attitude that things in life are fair or unfair. It is only daunting and overwhelming until you apply the right thinking, and then, the solution reveals itself.
The cliché that unfairness and making mistakes is part of life is what keeps you locked into what you fear the most - unfairness and making mistakes. The power of the Universe is consistent for everyone and in all things. The Universe is available to everyone and everything in the same fashion and intensity. Through proper thinking about the problem, challenges and vicissitudes you have access to the power to receive the answers you need.
Where you are right now as you read this; take a deep breath and accept, that your greatest answer is seeking to emerge through you. All answers to all life's questions are waiting for you to discover them. All you need to do is look, listen and trust.

Tools to Create Change
By Dee Britton
Are you living the life that you truly desire? Is everything in your life going just the way you have always dreamed? Relationships? Wealth? Health? Career? Family? If not, then what are you doing about making the change and creating that awesome life that you were meant to live?
Creating Everlasting Change
In order to create real everlasting change in any area of your life you must be equipped with the right tools. One of the biggest problems in society today is that so many people say that they want to change and do nothing about it (except moan about their current situation). Or on the other hand they spend much time and effort gathering the tools required to change, yet never doing anything with them.
Renovating your life is just like renovating your house and it always needs constant up keep. If you are renovating your house you need to know what you want done. What room in the house needs an update, what trades you require, what equipment and tools you need and you need to know how you want the finished product to look. You can either decide to outsource the work or do it yourself. Creating a better life is just the same but many people do not invest in themselves like they invest in their homes.
Preparing Your Own Personal Tool Belt
If you have decided to do the renovating yourself it is like walking into Bunnings (a large hardware store) with an empty tool belt on. You walk in the door and you are overwhelmed. You go up and down all the different aisles and there are thousands of different tools that you could fill your tool belt with but you have only got so much room or so much capacity. You know that only the best tools, the most precise tools will ensure a fantastic renovation.
As you walk down the aisles at Bunnings and you think to yourself:
'Shit, where do I start?
'Which aisle do I go down?'
'What do I need to get this job done?'
You've got this big list of problems that you need to overcome and an even bigger list of the extra stuff that you want out of life. You need a store attendant in overalls or in a Bunnings apron (an expert in the field) to really guide you and show you how to get what you need and guide you to the specific tools that you need, so that you can just leave with all the right tools to get the job done right.
No two renovations are ever the same so the tools must be selected specifically for you.
How Much Do You Want The Change?
In order for the renovation to go ahead you must really want it to happen. You must be so sick and tired of just existing and you understand that there is so much potential, and the investment is worth it. You are aware that there will be a bit of upheaval going on and maybe some unexpected obstacles as the changes take place. But you understand that the finished product will be so much better than the current one.
The Tools Do Not Work All By Themselves
There is no use going out and getting the tools or employing the trades if you are not ready or really sure about what you want. How many renovations do you see half finished? Or do you know of people who have decided to make the change, have gone out and purchased the tools, only to have them sit in the shed collecting dust.
There are many resources available that will equip you with a full belt of tools so that you can feel fully prepared for the change. So, NOW is the time to really think about what type of renovations really need to be happening in your life. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year, but NOW! Go out and get the necessary tools or trade experts and stop just thinking about it. Life is too short to live in a miserable old shack.
To health, happiness & living the life of YOUR dreams.

Questions for Self-Improvement
By A McIntyre
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6496588
You need to constantly question yourself if you want to improve. Questions guide your inner dialogue. They act as a guide for you to create inner and outer wealth living a life with emotional and financial freedom.
When we were still toddlers, we learn by asking questions. Sadly, when we became adults, some of us lost out ability to ask. Some deem asking as an activity only for childish individuals. Others simply neglect it because they are already satisfied with their current state. Ideally, we must never lose this ability. As long as we live, we need to ask questions. Some of these questions might have satisfying answers in the future; some might have not. BUT at least, you didn't maintain an idle mind.
We have come up with 3 questions for self-improvement. If you haven't asked yourself these questions yet, then start asking them now.
1.) Do I enjoy the things that I do?
You have to reflect on your current state. You have to make sure that you are enjoying the things that you have right now - work, relationships, and responsibilities. If there is one area in your life that seems boring, painful or monotonous to you, focus on that part. Reflect on the reason why you don't enjoy doing the things in that certain area. Strive to get out of these areas as soon as possible unless you want to live a miserable life.
2.) What is my real passion in life?
You enjoy doing what you do if it is your passion. For example, work seems so easy if you love the responsibilities that are included in it. When you enjoy what you do, you don't call it work anymore; you call it passion. People who choose not to pursue their passion live a life of misery most of the time.
3.) Do I always plan for my future?
It is not a sin to live in the present but it is a sin not to look forward to the future. Always think 5 to 10 years ahead. Think of things that you would like to achieve if you are allowed to live even for another decade. Create a list of what you would like to do and fulfill them one by one.
You can't find inspiration if you are just contented with your current state. You need to stand up and push yourself to your limit. The power of questions is inexhaustible. Famous success coach Anthony Robbins once said "quality questions create a quality life." You must put these questions in front of you in order to drive you to your goals, be rooted in your capabilities, and change your overall perception of yourself.

Be Great
By Lance Winslow
Are you one who wants to make a dent in the world? Really do something great with your life? Do you want to be someone that people say "leads by example" and truly have earned that observation by your fellow man and peers? Well, then, you can you know, but you have to affirm that you "will" to do whatever it takes, that you will live your life that way, and that you will be great, by believing in yourself, your cause, and the future. You have to affirm that you will make it happen in the present and future. Will you "will" yourself to do that, if so "affirm it" and mean it. How can you do this you ask?
Well, do this for me; look into your mirror, into your eyes, and say it, say it like you mean it, and believe it. You will transform yourself into the person you wish to be. Affirm action, and the attributes you wish to possess, become one with your vision, your goals, and then inevitably with your future accomplishments and achievements. Anyone can affirm anything, but it's those who believe who ultimately achieve - it's those who want it, go out and get it, and affirm in advance of their activities, as they accelerate towards their affirmations.
Being Great is not putting up a sign on your Facebook Page - look at me, I'm great, and I suppose if that makes you happy it's all good, but you can do better than that. You might put up your goals for the future, so you can have witnesses who help you pursue those dreams and ambitions in life, that can certainly help, but more importantly you must have strength from within, you must be dedicated to the cause, and commit yourself to future victory, and achievement, and yes, that will take some strong affirmations on your part.
Strip your mind of intimidation of the tasks ahead, affirm that you will meet any challenge, conquer any hardship, and deny any detractors along the way. Affirm that you will get up, dust yourself off, and do it again, and again, and again, if that's what it takes, and if your goals are lofty, it surely will take all that and more.
How would I know this?
How do you think?
Yes, it's going to take some strong affirmations, continued inner support, mental toughness, and if you can do that, your body will follow, it will follow you to hell and back, I am certain of that. Just remember if you have to go through that place to get to where you are going, then once you do get going don't stop, keep on going and never give up.
Be Great!

Three Things Most People Do Wrong When Trying to Release Emotions
By Dr Lisa Turner
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6432664
Emotions are good. They let us know when something isn't right for us. At least that's what they are meant for.
However all too often the emotion you feel now in the present is actually based in a memory from the past. When this happens it means you can't make the best decisions for yourself. You will find it hard to be 100% present and in the now, because the past is always pulling you back.
Sadly exactly how to recover from the past isn't well known and here are the 3 biggest mistakes that people make when trying to deal with their emotions.
1. Understand them
Do you know someone who knows exactly WHY they have their problems? They know the cause, the events that led to them, how it all happened. They will know and fully understand all the patterns and triggers, and often they will find every opportunity to share them with anyone who seems even remotely interested, they will launch into their "story". The problem is they still have the problem. Knowing why you have the problem and understanding it is a bit like knowing your car doesn't work because its fan belt has broken, but not actually replacing the fan belt.
2. Express them
Many therapies focus on crying, talking about your problem or even shouting and screaming.
Crying does not release the emotions, nor does it resolve the problem. Although crying can give temporary relief and release endorphins, this simply masks the problem and, in fact, reliving the painful event reinforces the problem and makes it worse, rather than better.
Rather than releasing the emotions this actually reinforces them in your neurology. Every time you think a thought, feel an emotion or recall a memory, the neurons fire in your brain along the same original path. Each time you do this you will actually be strengthening that path, making it easier for that pathway to be fired up next time. This is why small events in the present can trigger past trauma. Expressing emotions does not release them.
Therefore each time you relive a traumatic event, you will strengthen the neural pathway. But if you RELEASE the negative emotions new, positive and empowering thought processes can then be installed.
3. Suppress them
This is also called denial and we do this in a variety of ways. Most people will simply kid themselves or deny that they have any problems at all. Often emotions are suppressed or anaesthetised out of consciousness with addictions. Smoking, drinking, video games, TV, eating too much or a compulsion to eat a particular thing, even caffeine will anaesthetise your pain.
However, the pain and the problems are still there. The neurons are still firing, but out of your conscious awareness. So you are radiating out all that energy completely ignorantly until boom some big problem lands in your life and you can't understand where it came from or why it happened when you were thinking happy thoughts.
Telltale signs that you have suppressed emotions
A) Overreactions
You overreact to small things - this is known as emotional leakage. The emotions, denied in one area of your life, literally spill out in other areas. So if you are irritable, overly sentimental, get hurt by small things, even road rage, are signs that you could be suppressing emotions in another area.
B) Low or no Energy
Feeling tired - it takes energy to carry emotions (that's why it's called emotional baggage) and it takes even more energy to suppress them. If you are lacking in energy, need more sleep than most people or just have no get up and go. Many of my past clients were suffering from chronic fatigue or ME, which disappeared once they released their emotions.
C) You have physical pain or even illness
I've received a lot of questions about illness, heart problems, chronic fatigue, auto-immune, chronic pain and so on.
Pain, illness or physical discomfort is one of the ways our unconscious minds communicate with us. Your unconscious mind is communicating with your conscious mind all the time, but in the highly logical, rational, left brain society we have been conditioned to ignore those silly irrational feelings and only to pay attention to rational thinking.
But no matter how irrational they might seem they do have a rational cause. It's just that our conscious / logical mind doesn't have all the information. So it assumes the unconscious mind is wrong and overrules it.
This is what happens with our emotions and illness. Our unconscious mind will tell our conscious mind that something needs to change or move or it will just give us some feedback. But our conscious mind ignores it, so our unconscious mind gives it louder and louder and we turn it off and become numb to our emotions.
The problem is still there so our unconscious mind tries another way of communicating. The unconscious mind runs the body and it governs all those automatic processed like our immune system and muscles etc.
So if we ignore our emotions our unconscious mind gives us the messages as pain or illness. But when we pay attention to the emotions and release them the physical problem can disappear.
This is particularly true of all those psychosomatic illnesses. That doesn't mean they are not real. The pain and the problem is VERY real, but it is caused because we don't have a mechanism to release our emotions so we suppress them.
However all too often the emotion you feel now in the present is actually based in a memory from the past. When this happens it means you can't make the best decisions for yourself. You will find it hard to be 100% present and in the now, because the past is always pulling you back.

6 Important Questions That Can Improve Your Life Quality
By Rolf Trondhjem
Financial pressures can induce stress-related illness, impact your study performance and productivity and restrict your chances to build career shifts.
As a fact:
* 35-40% out of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.
* Financial trouble is the #1 cause of divorce

How to Handle Anger Appropriately
By Mary Bodel
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6442086
Anger can come from many sources. It may be righteous anger, either for yourself or for others. It may be guilt related anger. Sometimes stress causes it, and fear as well. The question is, how do you deal with it, and is it right for you to do something about it?
Righteous Anger: Has someone said something slanderous about you? Perhaps they told their boss or spread it around your workplace, school or the internet. You've got two choices. One is to act out your anger and the other is to let it pass. Acting in anger, even if it's righteous anger, does no one any good. If you're the target, then it especially does you no good. Before you react, calm down, look at it rationally and then decide how you're going to handle the problem.
The same advice holds true if it is because of something done to someone else. Anger begets anger. You can let it spur you to action, but not while you're still feeling the emotion.
Guilt: This is a sneaky one. The more true an accusation is, the angrier you will become. It's a reflex to shield the mind from the realization that you've done something wrong. It will take a lot of self control to swallow it, think about what's being said and then do the right thing, whether it's an apology or some other means of restitution.
Stress: Stress causes a lot of emotions, and anger is only one of them. If you are under a lot of stress, you may need to learn some relaxation techniques to help control them. Visualization is the best if you have the time. If not, deep breathing and counting to ten do actually help. Herbs such as lavender and passionflower could be beneficial, but not when you may need your wits about you.
Fear: In some cases, anger caused by fear may save your life. In others, it may cause lasting harm. It can give you that added push to get out of the way of something, which is good. However, it can also cloud your judgement, make any illness worse and if you open mouth and insert foot, it could ruin relationships.
It is a good idea to talk to your doctor if you have anger issues that aren't resolved by the simple steps above. You may have an underlying medical condition and you may need counseling. The counselor can help you learn stronger techniques to hold anger at bay.

Becoming Consistent
By Anna Watkins
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6308807
Many years ago I selected a formula for success; I wanted to be confident, competent, and consistent. Although all of those attributes work together, I have found consistency to be the toughest.
It may also be the key to attaining confidence and competence as you build the foundation for a successful career, life, or hobby.
started taking golf lessons, and I am having a great time returning to the "beginner mind." Fortunately I have some skills and knowledge that are helping me to learn faster. The process of working with a good instructor has really brought me back to the importance of consistency, especially when you are dealing with the laws of physics and physiology.
Every profession and hobby has fundamentals that are essential to success. You must use your mind and body in a certain way to execute necessary actions to fulfill your job. You also apply natural laws in the way that you employ tools that help you to do your job or make that shot.
Consistency requires an intense focus on elements that will become more automatic as you master your craft. In golf these fundamentals include grip, arm position, stance, backswing, keeping your eye on the ball, and proper position for the swing and follow-through. You work with the natural laws to get to your target over and over. If you focus on this correct formula for success, you can recognize what to correct when you make an error. You also realize that you must practice so that you can bring your mental and physical concentration into play and make the correct moves a habit.
I am pleased that I can see parallels with learning to play a musical instrument since that is so familiar to me. Especially when you first start learning, you must concentrate on basics. Eventually you develop muscle memory and an automatic feel for certain techniques. You acquire this by diligent, consistent practice. For children, this may include practice schedule sheets to log your regular practice sessions (and have your parents sign that you really did practice your music lesson.) Adults can and must discipline themselves in the same way.
You can see and hear the results when you are consistent with practicing your craft, your profession, or your hobby. It is so easy to forget this and yet so powerful when you remember and focus on being consistent. What are your basics? Are you being consistent with them?

Consistency is all about getting the quality of your miss-hits as close as possible to the quality of your good shots. What jogged my memory about consistency? This past fall I
